Finally, we cannot forget that this larger family includes fathers-in-law, mothers-in-law and all the relatives of the couple. One particularly delicate aspect of love is learning not to view these relatives as somehow competitors, threats or intruders. The conjugal union demands respect for their traditions and customs, an effort to understand their language and to refrain from criticism, caring for them and cherishing them while maintaining the legitimate privacy and independence of the couple. Being willing to do so is also an exquisite expression of generous love for one’s spouse.

Prayer for South Africa
 O God of justice and love, bless us, the people of Southern Africa,
and help us to live in your peace.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury; let me sow pardon;
Where there is discord, let me sow harmony.
Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
Seek to be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
To receive sympathy, as to give it;
For it is in giving that we shall receive,
In pardoning that we shall be pardoned,
In forgetting ourselves that we shall find
Unending peace with others. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

ARCHDIOCESAN CHILD SAFEGUARDING POLICY

'The Archdiocesan Child Safeguarding Policy, promulgated in October 2015 seeks to support this celebration of life and to guide us in our interactions with the children and youth entrusted to our care.

This Policy states that: Each child shall be cherished and affirmed as a gift from God with an inherent right to dignity of life and bodily integrity which shall be respected, nurtured and protected by all.

1.1. The Archdiocese is committed to safeguarding all children who interact with the Church; Should you wish to read the full policy you can access it on the Archdiocesan website at http://adct.org.za/child-safeguarding-policy-resources/

Our Parish Council has adopted the Child Safeguarding Policy and has begun the implementation of the policy in 2017 through ensuring that all those who are required to have the necessary clearance to  minister in the parish have done so. This is an ongoing process and will be repeated each year.

 The contact details of the Archdiocesan Contact persons are on display in the  Church Foyer.
